Getting Here

When they built Charleston they must have said "Let's build a city in a forest in the mountains by a river, where nobody can find us." And they did!  But civilization has found them and its not too difficult to get here now.  Some things to be aware of

Yeager International Airport

This is a very small airport. There are car rentals at the baggage claim and usually plenty of cars.  We also have some Uber.  I just looked on my app and there are about 10 cars in action at 11:30 a.m. on a Thursday morning. For Taxi services contact C&H Taxi. 304-344-4902. There will be a hotel shuttle to the Marriott as well as other downtown hotels.

Host Hotel

Our Host Hotel is the Marriot Town Center. We have this as a courtesy block, meaning they aren't holding rooms for us, but they are offering a substantial discount to GRC conferees.  The rate before taxes is $115 per night.  Please Book your Rooms Here Other downtown lodging is the Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn, Sheraton Four Points and Best Western. All within Walking distance to conference venues.

Camping and Other

Kanawha State Forest

In addition we have found a good friend of the station who has room for camping close to town in his backyard and some rooms available in his house. This is a very limited opportunity.  For information email CV@sagesoulproductions.com And Check out Air BnB | Sage Soul (sagesoulproductions.com)

Driving and Amtrak and River Boat

We are at the crossroads of I-79, I-64, and I-77. Be aware that coming from the south and east, there are tolls on 77 and 64; total one way will cost between $8 and $12.  There is EZ pass as well. The drive approaching Charleston from the east will be spectacular as the leaves ought to be in full fall colors and you will go over some of the most beautiful mountains in the region. We are about 5.5 hours from DC. 3.5 hours from Pittsburgh, 2.5 hours from Columbus, 4 hours from Charlotte.

Amtrak runs from DC to Charleston on Wednesday Friday and Sunday. For more info. go to Charleston, WV (CHW) | Amtrak

River boats are still around but they generally will not get you from anywhere to here nor vice versa.

Parking

All of the hotels have plenty of dedicated parking, Once you arrive you will be able to park your car and will be able to walk to all of the sessions and programs that we have planned. If you want to drive around and check out other parts of town, you will find parking to be easy.  All meters use Park Mobile App, residential neighborhoods are free.
